Suitability Criteria

An overlay is the right solution when the asphalt beneath is structurally stable. There should be no major cracking, no deep potholes and no zones of significant settlement. Surface-level wear, hairline cracks and colour fade are all comfortably covered by the resin layer.

Where localised damage exists, we repair before we overlay. Potholes are filled, cracked sections are patched and uneven areas are levelled. This gives the resin a strong, consistent platform.

Overlay Procedure

The resin bound mix — natural stone aggregate in UV stable resin — is hand-trowelled across the entire driveway at approximately 18mm depth. We detail carefully around manhole covers, drainage runs, kerb edges and planting beds. The surface cures within hours and can be walked on the same day.

What the Overlay Delivers

The finished surface is fully permeable. Rainfall filters through the aggregate layer, into the asphalt and down to the soil. That eliminates puddles and satisfies SUDS requirements for front driveways, typically removing the need for a planning application.

The joint-free finish prevents weed and moss growth entirely. UV stable resin preserves the stone colour through years of sunlight and weather. A jet wash once or twice a year is the only maintenance the surface needs.
