You hear bad things about dodgy workman and sub standard works. Fear not with this company. I researched thoroughly, got my facts straight and Kieran answered all the very difficult questions. Nothing was any trouble.

The Fastest Route From Tarmac to Something Better

A large number of Kent homes still sit behind tarmac driveways that have faded, cracked and grown weeds through every gap. Converting to resin bound paving solves every one of those issues without the expense and disruption of a full rebuild. Kent Resin Driveways carries out tarmac-to-resin conversions across Maidstone, Tonbridge, Staplehurst, Aylesford, Bearsted and throughout the county.

The conversion is straightforward. Your existing tarmac stays in place as the structural base. A fresh resin bound surface is hand-trowelled on top. No excavation, no skips, no heavy plant. The result is a brand new driveway, typically ready within a day or two, at a significantly reduced cost.

Resin Bound Outperforms Tarmac in Every Measure

Tarmac served its purpose for decades, but its limitations are well known. It bleaches in sunlight, fractures during frost cycles, provides gaps for weed growth and sheds surface water rather than absorbing it.

Resin bound addresses each weakness. The porous aggregate structure lets rainfall pass straight through, preventing standing water and ice formation. SUDS compliance is automatic, satisfying planning rules for paved front gardens. The seamless surface leaves no joints or fissures for weeds to colonise. UV stable resin preserves the aggregate colour over many years, so the driveway looks as vivid in its tenth year as it did on the day it was laid.

Dozens of natural stone blends are available. Warm sandy tones, rich earthy hues and cool contemporary greys all feature in our sample range. You choose the look that best suits your property.

The Conversion Process

We inspect the tarmac first. It must be structurally intact — stable enough to support the resin layer. Potholes and deep cracks are filled before the overlay. Minor surface wear presents no issue.

A pressure wash removes dirt, moss and organic debris. A bonding tack coat is applied to marry the resin layer to the tarmac beneath. The resin bound mix is then hand-trowelled at approximately 18mm depth, with careful detailing around manholes, steps, edging and planting beds. Curing is rapid and the driveway is drivable the following day.

Kerb Appeal and Property Value

A new resin bound driveway transforms the entire frontage. Estate agents consistently identify a well-presented driveway as a meaningful contributor to asking price and buyer perception. Homeowners in Yalding, Marden, East Farleigh, Kings Hill and across Kent have experienced the uplift first hand.

How We Handle Tarmac to Resin Bound Conversion

1

Tarmac Inspection

We assess the structural condition of the tarmac and carry out any necessary crack or pothole repairs.

2

Clean and Bond

The surface is pressure washed and a tack coat is applied to ensure a durable bond with the resin layer.

3

Resin Bound Overlay

The natural stone and resin blend is hand-trowelled at 18mm depth, detailed neatly around all edges and features.

4

Driveway Ready

The surface cures rapidly. Foot traffic is safe the same day and vehicles can return the next morning.

Tarmac to Resin Bound Conversion FAQs

How much can I save compared to a full new driveway?

Tarmac-to-resin conversion typically costs 40 to 60 percent less than a complete excavation and rebuild. The savings come from eliminating digging, disposal and new base construction.

Is any tarmac driveway suitable for conversion?

The tarmac must be structurally stable. Where significant subsidence or deep damage exists, additional preparation may be needed. We assess suitability during our free visit.

Will the resin layer crack over time like tarmac?

Resin bound paving has inherent flexibility and moves with the substrate. It is considerably less prone to cracking than rigid tarmac, particularly over a stable base.

Is planning permission required for this conversion?

Normally not. Resin bound is classified as a permeable surface, which satisfies the planning requirements for paved front gardens without a formal application.
