Luxury Resin Driveways, Built to Last
Level Outdoor Living on Sloping Ground
Luxury Resin Driveways, Built to Last. Professional resin bound installations across Kent.
A garden that drops away from the back of the house can feel wasted. A raised patio reclaims that space, extending a flat, usable platform out from the building and supported by engineered retaining walls. Kent Resin Driveways designs and builds raised patios finished in resin bound aggregate, giving homeowners across the county an outdoor living area that rivals any room inside.
Turning a Slope Into Your Favourite Spot
The gradient that makes mowing awkward and furniture unstable becomes the foundation for something far better. Sitting slightly elevated, a raised patio offers an uninterrupted view across the lawn, borders and wider landscape. The natural height difference separates the entertaining area from the garden below without fences or screens, creating a sense of openness that ground-level patios cannot replicate.
Construction Sequence
Foundations are excavated first, sized according to wall height, retained material weight and local soil character. Retaining walls rise course by course in brick, block or a combination, with weep holes and drainage runs installed as the masonry progresses. The enclosed area is then filled with compacted layers of type 1 aggregate to form a rigid, well-drained platform.
With the base ready, the resin bound surface is hand-trowelled across the full patio area. The permeable finish drains rainfall straight through, preventing pools on the platform and reducing hydrostatic load against the retaining walls.
Retaining Walls Engineered for Kent Clay
The clay belt running through Maidstone, Coxheath, Sutton Valence and Yalding presents particular challenges. Clay swells during wet periods and contracts when dry, generating lateral forces that poorly designed walls cannot withstand. We specify foundation depths that penetrate below the active clay zone and incorporate flexible drainage behind the masonry to prevent water pressure from building up. The result is a wall that remains plumb and stable through the full annual ground cycle.
Integrated Steps and Access
Most raised patios require a flight of steps to the lower garden. We build these on their own independent foundations and finish them in matching resin bound aggregate for a slip-resistant, visually continuous result. Where wheelchair or pushchair access is needed, a gentle ramp can be designed into the layout as a natural extension of the patio rather than a bolt-on addition.
Shaped to Your Garden
Rectangle, curve, L-shape, multi-tier: the plan follows the garden and your lifestyle. Clients in Bearsted, Paddock Wood and West Malling have each received a patio shaped specifically for their plot, their furniture layout and their entertaining habits. The space that once sat unused becomes the most popular part of the garden.

Benefits of Raised Patio Construction
How We Handle Raised Patio Construction
Slope Assessment
We measure the gradient, test soil conditions and discuss the size, shape and height of the patio platform you want.
Structural Design
Wall positions, foundation depths, drainage runs and step locations are planned. A fixed-price quotation is issued for the full project.
Build Programme
Foundations, retaining walls, fill layers, drainage and the resin bound surface are completed in a continuous programme.
Steps and Handover
Steps are constructed, levels and drainage are verified and the finished patio is handed over ready for furniture and entertaining.

Raised Patio Construction FAQs
What is the maximum height for a raised patio?
Residential raised patios typically range from 300 mm to 900 mm above the lower ground. Heights exceeding this may require structural engineering design and Building Regulations approval, which we can arrange.
Are Building Regulations relevant for raised patios?
Patios raised more than 300 mm generally trigger Building Regulation requirements for the retaining walls and drainage. We design to these standards as a matter of course.
Why do you use resin bound for the patio surface?
It is permeable, weed-free, comfortable underfoot and drains rainfall through the surface on contact. This reduces water pooling on the platform and limits the pressure that retained water exerts on the walls.
How long should I allow for the project?
Plan for one to two weeks depending on the patio area and wall height. Retaining walls require curing time before the fill and surface are placed. We supply a detailed programme before breaking ground.
