You hear bad things about dodgy workman and sub standard works. Fear not with this company. I researched thoroughly, got my facts straight and Kieran answered all the very difficult questions. Nothing was any trouble.

Why Kent Homeowners Are Replacing Their Block Paving

Block paving was the driveway material of choice for two decades. Thousands of Kent homes still have it. But the reality of living with block paving rarely matches the promise. Joints fill with weeds within months of laying. Sand washes out every time it rains. Individual blocks sink under wheel loads, creating uneven surfaces that catch heels and trip feet. Ant nests push sand up through gaps. Moss and lichen colonise the surface every autumn.

Homeowners in Barming, West Malling, Coxheath and across Kent tell us the same thing: they are tired of spending their free time on hands and knees pulling weeds and re-sanding joints. The switch to resin bound paving puts an end to all of that.

What Changes When You Go Resin Bound

Resin bound surfacing is a single, continuous layer with no joints whatsoever. Weeds have nowhere to establish. There is no kiln sand to wash away. No individual blocks to sink. No crevices for ants. No textured grooves for moss to grip. The surface is smooth, level and stays that way year after year.

It is also permeable. Old block paving that has been down for years often loses its drainage capability as joints clog with compacted dirt. A resin bound surface drains consistently for its entire lifespan, keeping it SUDS compliant and free of standing water.

Practically, the flat surface is far easier to navigate with pushchairs, wheelchairs, wheeled bins and shopping trolleys. Several of our customers in Yalding and East Farleigh have told us how much simpler daily life became once the uneven blocks were gone.

The Replacement Process

We lift every block and remove the sand bed beneath them. The exposed sub-base is then assessed. In many cases it is perfectly reusable — block paving requires a sound sub-base to begin with, so the groundwork is often in better condition than people expect.

If the sub-base needs strengthening or levelling, we carry that out. A tarmac or concrete regulating course is laid on top to provide a flat, uniform platform. Aluminium edging frames the perimeter and the resin bound aggregate is mixed and trowelled by hand to a seamless finish.

The Difference Is Immediate

Customers consistently tell us they are surprised by how much larger and cleaner their driveway looks once the block pattern is replaced by a single sweep of colour. The visual transformation is dramatic, and the maintenance saving over the following years is even more compelling.

A clean resin driveway also strengthens your property's kerb appeal. If you are considering selling, estate agents will confirm that a well-presented driveway is one of the first things that registers with prospective buyers. Compared to tired, weedy block paving, the impression is night and day.

Responsible Disposal of Old Materials

All lifted blocks, sand and any other waste material are removed from site and disposed of responsibly. Skip hire and waste management are included in our quotation, so there are no unexpected charges. Reclaimed block paving is recycled wherever possible.

An Environmentally Positive Upgrade

Replacing clogged, semi-permeable block paving with a fully permeable resin bound surface improves your property's contribution to local water management. Rainfall drains through efficiently rather than running off into already-stretched municipal drainage systems.

How We Handle Block Paving Removal & Resin Replacement

1

Assessment and Quote

We inspect your block paving, evaluate the sub-base condition underneath, and discuss aggregate colours. A comprehensive written quotation covers removal, disposal and installation.

2

Block and Sand Removal

Every block is lifted and the sand bed cleared. Materials are removed from site and recycled or disposed of responsibly.

3

Base Rebuilding

The sub-base is repaired or reinforced as needed, a regulating layer is applied, and aluminium edging is fitted to define the driveway boundary.

4

Resin Bound Finish

Resin and aggregate are mixed on site and hand-trowelled to a smooth, even finish. The driveway cures overnight and is ready for use the next day.

Block Paving Removal & Resin Replacement FAQs

How long does a block paving to resin conversion typically take?

Allow three to five working days for an average-sized driveway. That includes lifting the blocks, preparing the base, and laying the resin bound surface. We will give you an accurate timeline with your quotation.

Can the existing sub-base under my block paving be kept?

In many cases, yes. Block paving is laid on a compacted sub-base that is often still in good condition. We check thoroughly before making that call and carry out any necessary repairs before proceeding.

How does upkeep compare between block paving and resin bound?

There is no comparison. Block paving demands regular weeding, re-sanding, jet washing and moss treatment. Resin bound paving needs nothing more than a periodic sweep and rinse. The time saving is substantial.

Will a resin driveway develop the same sinking issues as blocks?

No. Resin bound paving forms a single, flexible sheet that distributes load evenly across the base. Unlike individual blocks sitting on sand, it does not develop the localised depressions that make block paving uneven over time.
